Drag-flicker Diwakar Ram will lead the under-21 Indian hockey team against Pakistan in a five-match away Test series from November 11 to 21. The 20-member squad also includes promising junior players in Innocent Kullu, Birendra Lakra, Mandip Antil, Amardeep Ekka among others.
Skipper Diwakar Ram led from the front, scoring five goals, as former champions India opened their campaign in the Junior World Cup hockey tournament, by crushing co-hosts Singapore 10-0 in Singapore on Monday. Diwakar flicked home all his five goals from penalty-corners in the 15th, 18th, 29th, 55th and 66th minutes at the Seng Kang Sports Complex.
The forwards wasted chances galore as India, despite dominating the proceedings settled for a 1-1 draw with Argentina in the second match of the four-Test Under-21 hockey series at the Club Ciudad de Buenos Aires in Buenos Aires. The Indians won the first match of the series 3-2.
